Future Singapore Idols - it's a gender issue

Let's face it. Only the little girls are voting. They like them slim, they like them male and decidedly cute. If you have to be female, look like someone they would like to be - cute again, sweet as M&Ms and not aspiring to be too smart.

So now I know at least there was never a chance for Olinda Cho in the first season to make it to the finals. The teenybopper was voting even then, furiously and fast.

The only interesting thing I can think of happening now is who the residual voters will turn to. If you were gunning for Joakim all this while and he is gone from the scene, who will you waste your SMS dollar now?
Paul Twohill? Nah... if you didn't like his hair in the past, you are not going to block the visual follicular onslaught enough to hear this young man's occasional good voice.
Jonathan Leong? If he continues to sing like he is crooning, I think it is lost on these girls.
Hady - Most likely, they are going to jump ship here. Hady offers the closest fit. He is just a bit too clean-cut, somewhat bland so that beyond the song he sings he cuts no interesting image. By this time in the previous season, I remember people began to view Taufik as someone with a painful past, being brought up in a single parent situation.
Jasmine? She is the beneficiary of the remaining voters who have been inclined to vote for the ladies.

Hady is the one most unlikely to make any vocal boo-boos, Paul is already nervously fingering his hair but Jonathan is lapping up all the unwavering attention from judges Dick and Ja and Jasmine is looking happier as each week passes.

But you know what, Joakim's fans may turn to her - as she is after the entire Joakim package - just female like they are, that's all
