The Singaporean Student - musings part 2

There are a few kinds but most people would fall into one of the following categories:

1) The ANY Idol Fan - these teens, prepubescent or otherwise, are idol-crazy groupies. They will scream at the sight of anybody who has appeared on telly. They are responsible for the finalists we have now, Paul Twohill notwithstanding.

2 The ANY Idol Scoffer - these are the ones who think Singapore Idol is for "shallow people" (see previous posting). They think they have higher standards and sometimes that includes forgiving someone who can't find time to cut his hair.

3 The Mugger-toad - these are the ones who are chugging along full-steam. Sometimes they have parents who say "Why go to school for National Day Celebrations, no lessons what?"

4 The Play-like-no-tomorrow - enjoyment has not limits for these lost souls. If it is not the World Cup, it will be High School Musical. These are the die-hard organisers of a myriad events. If these people turn up in hostel lodgings, they will be the ones who will organise the MOONCAKE festival.

5 The Serious ones - they are studying for a reason and if they will admit it, they are driven by the pain they see their loved ones go through. I know someone who has 3 kids in university scholarships and they never embraced the benefits of private tutoring.

6 The Lost ones - these are the ones who if they can find a way to make themselves heard or to establish their mark, they will be something BIG in future. School does not interest them, alternatives do. They won't play shool; they want to jump in experience life. Sometimes, if they delve into the dark side of life too soon, they have difficulty retrieving their souls and their dignity.

Which one are you?
